Disconnect AirTag from lost iPhone
My boyfriend lost his phone and cant disconnect to his AirTag. Can you restart it

Short answer: No.
Only a device signed-in w/ the tag’s AppleID can make changes to the tag.
An AirTag is associated with an AppleID, not any one particular device.
Once he gets his new iPhone and is signed-in to his AppleID, the AirTag will work just as it did w/ his old phone.
