.numbers file extension

I doubt this is possible, but is there a way to get Numbers to not add the .numbers extension to filenames when exporting or printing as PDF? It's sometimes confusing to my clients to get a file called something like "finalcopy.numbers.pdf", so I always remove the middle extension, which is a pain. I don't see how it serves any purpose, anyway... no one cares what software the pdf was created in!

The same is true for Pages. Pretty annoying.

If I print to a PDF I see that same issue. There is something in the printing to a PDF code that insists on using the whole file name, including the extension for any file from any app. Have you tried File > Export to > PDF? In my experience that doesn't add the app name.

Yellowbox was onto the answer for Print to PDF. Turn off "show all filename extension" in Finder preferences. You may also have to use Get Info on the particular file and choose to hide its extension. That is the default so you probably won't have to do that.

From what I see, the filename at the top of the document in Numbers is the name it uses when exporting to PDF. If the file is showing the .numbers file extension in Finder, the filename at the top of the document will have the .numbers extension and the PDF will have .numbers in it. If "show all filename extensions" is deselected in Finder and the file itself has "hide extension" selected, the name at the top of the document will not have the .numbers extension and it will not be part of the PDF name.

Hi, thanks for the attempt at helping, but apparently you missed the point of my question. I don't want to hide the extension, I want to prevent the system from adding an extension with the name of the software before the extension with the name of the file format, i.e., "document.pages.pdf". If I print to PDF, I'd like it to save as "document.pdf" without the ".pages" middle extension. As it is now, I have to manually delete that part of the filename if I want to save without it.

Also, apparently "hide extension" doesn't work on files with two extensions, the option is greyed out.
