Apple Maps won’t let me add to my “favorites”

I can’t add my home address to the favorites section because I added my work address to the “work” one and now any time I press Home, it opens up my contact card to my Work contact instead of asking if I want to create a new one or choose an existing contact. If I edit the information to my home address, it deletes my “Work” favorite. Pls halp

Home, Work and School addresses are supposed to be added automatically to your favorites when they are added to your contact card. I tried everything to get my Home address added to favourites and nothing seemed to work until I tried this.

  • Ensure that in the Street field, your address begins with the Street Number then Street Name
  • 2105-100 Main Street will NOT work
  • 100 Main Street, Apt 2105 works just fine

If you format your address this way for both Home and Work locations they will show up automatically in your Favorites as expected. Even trying to add an address manually to favorites that is the same as your home or work (i.e. just 100 Main Street) wouldn't add as a favorite for me - I assume it was recognized as a duplicate of my home address and was rejected).

Curious if that was your issue as well.

Hello Nmccoy97,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Is this only an issue with your contact card or does it happen with others? This could help narrow things down.

On your contact card, do you have both Home and Work addresses listed? If so, try the steps in this article: Save favorite places in Maps on iPhone - Apple Support

"Edit a favorite

  1. On the search card, tap More above the row of favorites.
  2. Tap the Settings button next to the favorite.
  3. Depending on the location, you may be able to make the following changes:
    • Rename the favorite: Double-tap the Label field, then enter a new name.
    • Change the address: Tap Contact Card, then make your changes.
    • Delete the location from your favorites list: Tap Remove Favorite.
    • Tell someone your ETA: Tap Add Person, then choose one or more suggested contacts, or search for a contact. Whenever you start turn-by-turn navigation to this location, the person automatically receives a notification about your estimated time of arrival (ETA). See Share your estimated time of arrival (ETA).

4. Tap Done."

You could also try doing this manually, click on + next to the Home and Work to add a location. Manually search for your location. Then click on Home or work then update the contact card.

Keep us updated.

Cheers!
