iPhone 14 pro max lightning cable

i just got a new iPhone 14 pro max. the included lightning to USB C cable does not fit into the port on the phone. it is too loose, like it's the wrong cable.

if anyone knows the answer to this please let me know. do i need a different cable??

Are you sure you are plugging the lightning end which is the smaller end into the phone?
