Mail sending problems after update

Has anyone else experienced emails making the sending sound but not actually sending. I have sent several emails and then go back later under my “sent” folder and they aren’t there and the person never received anything…

Hello cheerchiq18,

Thanks for reaching out to us in Apple Support Communities about emails not sending. We're happy to help by looking into this more!

The following support article provides some troubleshooting steps to try for this behavior: If you can’t send email on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Ultimately, you may need to remove email account and then set up back up:

1. On your computer, sign in to your email provider’s website. Make sure that all of your email is there or make sure that your email is saved somewhere other than on your iOS or iPadOS device.
2. On your device, go to Settings > Mail, then tap Accounts.
3. Tap the email account that you want to remove.
4. Tap Delete Account.
5. Add your account again.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards.

cheerchiq18,

Understood, we appreciate those additional details. Let's also ensure that your iPhone is fully updated as this installs new security updates and bug fixes that can resolve behavior like this. These steps from Update your iPhone or iPad show how:

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. Choose the software update that you want to install. You can choose to stay on iOS or iPadOS 15 and still get important security updates. Or you can choose the option to upgrade to iOS or iPadOS 16.
The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 15.7 or iOS 16.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

If this continues after updating your iPhone, then we would recommend contacting Apple Support next. They would be the best suited to investigate this behavior further. Reach out here: Contact - Official Apple Support

Take care!

Hello cheerchiq18,

We also recommend testing if this happens with both Wi-Fi and cellular data to rule out a service related issue. If this continues with both, let us know a bit more what's happening so we can help. Please answer the following:

Does this happen with one specific email account of yours?

Does this happen only with certain contacts?

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks
