iPad secondary display freezes on both WIFI and USB

Hi,

I am experiencing frequent issue with using my iPad as a secondary display for my MacBook pro. My iPad pro screen freezes when using sidecar (can exit sidecar swiping up on the screen, so seems like just the app). This happen very frequently over wifi, on many different networks. The thing that surprises me though is that even when it's connected over USB (and says it's connect via USB), it still freezes pretty frequently (maybe 10 times in a day or more). What fixes it is disconnecting and reconnecting on the Mac side. Sometimes it freezes within minutes, sometimes it works okay for a couple hours.

I'm using a M1 MacBook Pro (16GB RAM) with an iPad Pro.

Thinking it could be a RAM issue, usually sitting around 14GB used.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi nort-y,

If you haven't done so yet, restart your iPad Pro and your Mac. Sometimes, restarting can correct unexpected behavior. Since running the latest software can help with overall performance, make sure your devices are on the latest compatible versions: Apple security updates - Apple Support

Here is some additional guidance that could be helpful with the performance issue you've noticed with your iPad Pro: About iOS or iPadOS performance on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If this only occurs when you use a specific app, follow these steps: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support

1. Close and reopen the app
Force the app to close. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

2. Restart your device
Restart your iPhone or restart your iPad. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

3. Check for updates
To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, tap your profile icon, then scroll down to see if updates are available. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your iPhone or iPad.

4. Delete the app, then redownload it
Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

Best regards.
