Photos show as white on iPhone 13 plus

Hi, some of my photos & videos show as a blank white screen in my gallery. I can’t view them. I have special photos that I took & can’t be seen. Please help! I can’t believe I am asking questions on an obvious fault on a phone which is sold as having such a good camera. I’m not impressed!

Ö-T,

If your software isn't already updated to the latest version, we recommend updating as it can fix many issues:

  1. "Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see two software update options available, choose the one that you want to install.
  5. The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 14.8 or iOS 15.
  6. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do."

You can find these steps in the article Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Have you ever been able to see these photos or have they always appeared white? Are any photos viewable in your gallery? If you take a new photo after you've restarted and updated your device, are you able to see it?

Cheers!

Hello Ö-T,

Welcome back to Apple Support Communities!

We want to make sure your photos look normally.

To learn even more about this, do you have iCloud Photos enabled?

Check by:

"On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Go to Settings > [your name].
  2. Tap iCloud.
  3. Tap Photos"

This Apple Support page has the full details: Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support

If so, let's see if the photos look the same on the iCloud website too: iCloud

The more details you can provide about the situation, the better equipped we are to assist.

Cheers!

Hi Ö-T,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with your photos. We'd like to help.

You mentioned that you only see a blank white screen in your gallery. Are you referring to the Photos app on your iPhone or somewhere else? Have these pictures ever been seen on this device successfully?

If this is happening on your iPhone, have you restarted your iPhone since you noticed this? If not, start with that as sometimes it can help an app load correctly after the restart: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

Let us know a bit more abut his issue and we'll go from there.

Take care!

Hi, thank you for your reply. Yes they photos & video’s show blank white in the iPhone gallery. As soon as they were taken they turned white. Also, when I have been videoing, it stops on its own on occasions. I’ve never had this problem on my other iPhones. I was looking to get an 13 plus max for my partners birthday next week but I have to say I am having second thoughts now. I have done a restart & it made no difference. If you can help that would be good. Thank you.
