I recently updated my iPhone 12 to iOS 15.6 and Siri stopped answering request for temperature and weather. Instead, Siri simply does a web search and reports on the results. Siri still recognizes my voice and answers all other questions, but not on the weather. The weather app works fine, using both my location and an entered location. I have tried to reset settings to no avail.

If you haven't done so already, restart the iPhone and try again. Sometimes a simple restart can help resolve things: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
Along with privacy and location settings, verify the Weather app has the correct settings to use with Siri & Search: Change Siri settings on iPhone - Apple Support

Go to Settings 
> Siri & Search, then turn on or off any of the following:

You can change which apps you can use with Siri, as well as the Siri Suggestions and Siri Shortcuts settings for any app.
