Not a fan already of this most recent update, but i can't get Siri to announce the weather or answer my general questions as he previously did. i want to avoid resetting anything at all costs. any suggestions on what parts of my phone i should be looking at?

Settings -> Siri -> Siri Responses. Select "Prefer Spoken Responses".
EDIT: this suggestion was posted before Dsmall edited his/her post. There is no setting to customize Siri responses on a per-app basis, at least not at this time. Whether this will change with the arrival of Apple Intelligence I don't know. If you wish to provide feedback to Apple, you can do so here:

I’m having the same problem. If Siri can tell me the time, it should be able to tell me the temperature. Even after the update it doesn’t work.
FIX IT APPLE!
I thought I’d done something, then saw this post and realized this capability/feature was disabled after iOS 18.0 or 18.0.1 update since it worked prior to those updates.
Having Siri “verbalize/speak” answers to me is critical hands and eyes-free operations. Weather, time, etc.
UPDATE: I did change “Spoken Responses” Siri setting to “prefer spoken responses “ from “Automatic” which now verbalizes the weather report, but not sure if I’ll get a bunch more responses that I don’t want verbalized. Perhaps this can be customized for specific situations or Apps.
