AirPods Pro won’t stop charging

My airpods aren't recognising when they're at 100% charge and are sucking the battery out of the case. So basically unless the case is on charge it continuously goes flat because of my airpods on a continuos need for charge.

Example: I fully charged my airpods and case so both are at 100%. An hour later my AirPods say they are at 100% but charging indicator is still lit. The case says it’s at 90%. It appears that the airpods are being continually charged by the case.

Sdie note - the airpods work normally and the battery life of them last as it should when in use. I have also tried resetting them with no change to what I am seeing.

Hoping someone has a solution or answer!

Thanks in advance

Hey there sheldonfrombirmingham,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. To get started, since the AirPods are unable to be turned off, they will continue to charge when placed in the AirPods charging case, so what you are experiencing would be expected behavior.

If you have are using AirPods Pro or AirPods (3rd generation), you can enable Optimized Battery Charging which will learn from your daily charging routine and will wait to charge your AirPods past 80% until just before you need to use them.

For more details, check out this link here under the "Learn about Optimized Battery Charging on AirPods Pro and AirPods (3rd generation)" section: Charge your AirPods and learn about battery life - Apple Support

We hope that's able to help.

Have a great day!
