Hey everyone, hope you find this helpful. Duracell batteries don’t work with AirTags because of the bitter coating they now have, however, if you rub just a tiny bit of saliva on the contact point of the battery and then wipe it dry, it removes the coating enough for it to work. Hope this helps!
I used an alcohol hand wipe or glasses lens cleaner solution as well. Just make sure it is fully removed and dried completely before insertion. Saved 8 replacement batteries for me! Though good to know a spit and polish works too.

I tried saliva. Didn't work for me. Didn't try what others are reporting (Windex, Nail Polish remover, etc.). What did work for me was scratching with a nail file/emery board the negative side of the battery for about 30 seconds. Worked for me.
A nice long spit and rub worked for me on the first try. Just need to make a dent in the coating and you are good to go.
