AirTag battery replacement not working

I had been running into the issue of the replaced battery not working in my AirTags. People on other posts stated that the Duracell battery does not fit properly and that you had to buy Panasonic. This didn’t make sense as the battery is a specific style and size. I found out that if the battery has the bitter coating to protect children it will not make contact with the AirTag. A little rubbing alcohol on the battery fixes the problem.

Yep, you were provided bogus information about the Duracell battery size. They are all manufactured to the same specifications .. within a certain tolerance.

... and yes, most Duracell & other brands, have employed a bitterant coating to discourage people/pets from ingesting them.

... and yes, there are a number of "workarounds" to still use these batteries, including the one (cleaning them with rubbing alcohol) you mentioned.

Regardless, thanks for providing your solution.
