Mac mini M1 not recognizing second USB C monitor

Mac Mini M1 has been rebellious in the past at recognizing second monitor. Bought a fancy USB c cable and contacted Apple Support. I often had to re-boot or disconnect/re-connect the USB c cable from the mini.

Now, after a cold boot, the mini will not recognize the second monitor at all

Any ideas?

The M1 Mac Mini only supports one display connected to a TB/USB-C port and one connected to the HDMI port.

carefully read "Video Support" at > Mac mini - Technical Specifications - Apple

and > Connect a display to Mac mini - Apple Support
