Some ads play sounds regardless of silent switch

From another thread I understand how ads/apps don’t have to honor the silent switch on the iPhone, but shouldn’t the volume toggle work for such ads/apps? My volume is turned all the way down but an ad in a game app played at max volume.

Either way, random ads or bizarre background noises (which I assume are audio only ads) ignore my settings and blast the volume. Ads bypass silent mode iPhone sound settings - set it to max volume searched for an answer to this and all I found was 'see if your phone is up to date' and ' relaunch the app. >> that is not an answer but only a symptoms-control and dos not give any explanation to the why this is happening and what to do about it. (I am on an iPhone 15 and everything is up to date, so that got that out of the way) So, Apple: what is your answer in this? [Edited by Moderator]

Ads in iPhone apps ignore silent switch Some ads in iPhone apps ignore the silent switch. That is bad enough but up until today those ads at least have had a mute button. Today got a ad for the app Viola's Quest: Marble Blast that not only ignored the silent switch but it also did not have a mute button so audio started blasting out with no way to stop the noise. Over time doesn't it seem like we get less and less control of our devices. Features of iOS that I like to use seem to disappear with each new major release.

Since having the latest software can help with overall performance, make sure your iPhone is running iOS 15.5: Get the latest software updates from Apple

If your iPhone is already up to date, or if updating doesn't help, reply with the answers to these questions:

Does this happen with one specific ad or with any ad that plays?
Does this only happen with ads you see when playing a specific game?

The switch does not, and was never intended to silence all in app audio. It only silences notification sounds, including the phone ringing.
