Auto updating iOS apps not working?

Hello.

My client's old iPhone 11 Pro Max's iOS v15.5's App Store has auto

updates over wifi enabled (not cellular), but it hasn't downloaded and

installed to update his installed old app versions since 6/21/2022. We

had to manually check and download them to update. Why aren't they not

autoupdating in the background on wifi? Settings look OK to me.

Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)

Hi antdude,

Typically, "A normal battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles when operating under normal conditions." As the battery is on and nearing depletion it's likely the reason your apps aren't updating automatically.

Additionally, with app updates there are additional settings to check. The "ask if over 200MB option" when using cellular data is one. The article here in the section quoted below has a great visual.

"How to turn on or turn off automatic updates on your iPhone or iPad

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap App Store.
  3. Turn on or turn off App Updates.
  4. iPhone that shows options to turn on or turn off automatic updates in Settings."
