hey, do u guys know if an apple watch series SE + GPS , ( not celular mode ) need wi-fi or data to make phone calls? or to send messages?

Apple watch not getting incoming calls when away from phone? Hello, I just recently got an Apple Watch SE 2nd Gen. Can the watch receive phone calls when my iPhone is left at home? Reason I ask is the store assoctiate at ATT told me I can leave my phone at home and just use my Apple Watch and incoming calls, texts, etc will come through. Well today, I left my phone at my house and just used my watch. I noticed I did not get any phone calls, but when I got home I had a bunch of missed calls? Nothing ever came through on my Watch? Now that I am home and close to my iPhone my phone rings and so does my Watch.. My question is, can the Apple Watch not receive calls without the iPhone near? (I tested it and I can make outgoing calls just fine when I am away from the phone)
