Unable to Add Apple Card To Apple Watch

Trying to add my Apple Card to my Series 2 Watch.

Receiving the following error when I click the add button.

“Apple Pay Unavailable”

”Apple Pay services are currently unavailable. Please try again later.”

I've soft and hard resettled both devices multiple times. I’ve logged out of iCloud and back in on my phone. Nothing has worked.

Im able to add other cards to the watch with no problem. I can also use the Apple Card on my phone with Apple Pay.

Super disappointed thus far in the card process.

Apple Support solved this for me this morning.

It won’t work on your watch unless you’re on OS7 or higher.

Put another way, Apple has self inflicted obsolescence on people. Even though my watch can use Apple Pay on other cards, they’ve limited it so that I HAVE TO UPGRADE. To use my Apple Card on my watch.

Tech support confirmed my only option was to get a new watch.
