Why is there still no fix for a major Apple TV fault?

Over the last year dozens of users have reported the same fault with Apple TV boxes but no actual solution has ever been found. It looks like Apple are not even trying. The issue is that multiple apps stop connecting to the Apple TV interface. You get an endless wheel of death if you try. Rebooting does NOT solve the issue - occasionally (not always) rebooting delays the return of the problem but it always comes back.

Two questions - will Apple stop pretending, as in some comments, that this is a rare one-off problem? And will they ever seek, let alone offer, a solution?

Rebooting does NOT solve the issue.

Rebooting does not do what you think it should do. The app states get preserved as they were (unlike on computers), unless you manually force-quit those apps as well.

Try this for any misbehaving app:

  1. Force-quit the app, then relaunch and try again.
  2. If the issue persists, force-quit the app, restart the device, then relaunch and try again.
  3. If the issue still persists, delete the app, re-download and try again.
  4. If the issue still persists after that, then contact the app developer for further assistance.

Did you report the issue to Apple through the feedback form?

Thanks for the reply - l’m grateful.

You mat be right that Apple officially have not denied that there is a problem.

But if you search this community, you will see (i) that many people have reported this issue (ii) Apple support staff who do post here have denied that it is widespread (implication: it’s not worth bothering about) and (iii) there is no explanation as to why this problem arose for so many in the last year and no indication that Apple intend to correct whatever bug causes it.

Your suggested solution (again, thank you) is burdensome but can work for a time. Having tried it before I know it is not a lasting or permanent solution. For that, Apple need to acknowledge that the problem exists and sort out the underlying bug. Here’s hoping.

Further, to note that the suggested solution did not work at all for me today.

If the best & only suggested solution is really to require that all apps have to be repeatedly deleted & reinstalled every few days or weeks, and even then may still not connect with the Apple TV interface, then it is surely clear that (i) the problem is not with an individual app developer and (ii) Apple really do need to come up with a software solution. Does anyone think they will?
