Tabs won't show up in Chrome on my MacBook Air

On my MacBook Air Pro, whether I'm in full screen view or not, I cannot see the

content of the tabs at the top when using Chrome. I can see an outline of them and the url if I

hover over them. I can see a line separating the tabs so I know there's

something there.


The following image has half a dozen tabs open. If I hover over any of them, I can see the content. I have to hover until the x shows so I can close out a tab.




I have worked with my IT team at our university. I also tried a reinstall and the IT department did the following:


I have reached out to the Google Chrome Community.




I saw a similar issue in the Apple community's chat regarding Safari. I changed the settings so that Chrome would not open when I turned on my laptop after shutting it down or restarting it. I held the shift key as I selected Google Chrome.


I am so hopeful this can be fixed. I appreciate your time and insight.
