Getting my entire music library to have the same sound quality..

…is this impossible? i have some ripped from CDs some downloaded from Amazon and Internet Archive (which as far as bitrate is concerned is a gamble, you don’t what you’re getting) Is it possible to have my entire music library to sound as if they came from the same scource. I’m somewhat of an audiofile but maybe just to a certain point. I found an MP3 converter that will convert audio files to MP3 in between 240-253 bitrate. I found out Googling that all converting does is degrade sound quality even if it’s as high as 320 or low as 128.. so..🤷‍♂️ i’m at a loss. I just don’t want to be in a situation where i’m sitting with an audiofile and she/he can tell what scource of the file is just by listening….

Is it just absolutely impossible to normalize my entire music library. or if not, is it gonna be extremely difficult and time (and maybe even battery) consuming??

That source oy found was pretty correct. Conversion does not (cannot) improve the audio quality, even if you explained the bitrate. If you really want to have all songs at the same quality, find the worst one and convert them all to that! Which of course would be silly.

To avoid the social awkwardness of "to be in a situation where i’m sitting with an audiofile and she/he can tell what source of the file is just by listening….," make a smart playlist with a rule to only include the high quality songs, e.g., based on Kind to only include lossless tracks, and only play that playlist when your friend is around.
