If your Company and Title fields in Apple Contacts are suddenly missing or blank — even in Edit mode — it could be due to iCloud sync issues, a corrupt address book database, or contacts being synced from another source (like Exchange or Google) without those fields.
Here’s a step-by-step approach to help you resolve the issue and recover your data:
1. Check iCloud Contact Settings
Make sure your contacts are syncing from iCloud (not another account like Gmail or Exchange):
- Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud
- Ensure Contacts is toggled ON
Then check which account your contacts are actually from:
- Open the Contacts app
- Tap Groups (top-left if visible)
- See if multiple sources (iCloud, Gmail, Exchange) are listed
- Try selecting only iCloud and see if Company/Title appear
2. Check via iCloud.com
- Go to iCloud.com on a browser
- Log in and open Contacts
- Look at a few entries — do you see Company and Title data there?
If they’re visible on iCloud.com, it’s likely an issue with your device's local display, not lost data.
3. Check on Another Apple Device
- Try viewing the same contacts on another Apple device logged into your iCloud
- If fields show up there, your iPhone may just need a reset/re-sync
4. Force Resync Contacts
Turn iCloud Contacts off and on (don't worry — this won't delete data if it's stored in iCloud):
- Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Contacts
- Toggle Contacts OFF
- Choose “Keep on My iPhone” if prompted
- Then toggle Contacts ON again
Give it a few minutes for contacts to re-sync.
5. Export Contacts (Optional Backup)
To be safe, back up your current iCloud contacts:
- Go to iCloud.com > Contacts
- Click the gear ⚙️ > Select All
- Click ⚙️ again > Export vCard
- This saves a copy of your full address book.
6. Reset Contacts App Display
Sometimes Apple’s Contacts app glitches:
- Close the app completely (swipe it away)
- Reboot your device
- Reopen Contacts and check again
7. Using Third-Party Accounts?
If your contacts were originally stored via a business account (like Outlook Exchange, Google Contacts, or CRM integrations) and that account is removed or changed, Company/Title may vanish because they were stored on that service.
Go to:
Settings > Contacts > Accounts
Check if any accounts have “Contacts” enabled — you may need to re-enable a removed one.
Final Resort: Restore from iCloud Archive
If the data is missing entirely, you can restore your iCloud contacts from an older version:
- Visit iCloud.com > Account Settings
- Scroll down to Advanced > Restore Contacts
- Select a backup dated before the issue began
- Click Restore
This will overwrite your current iCloud contacts — back up first with the Export vCard method above.
