siri doesnt anounce names from contact list

My old iPhone 7 used to announce the caller’s name when the phone rang. On my new iPhone 13, it spells out the letters instead. All settings were transferred from the old iPhone, where Siri’s language was set to English both before and now. How can I make the iPhone 13 announce the caller’s name?

Siri not announcing contact name before dialling on iOS 18.2 I am a blind iPhone user, so the announcement that Siri made before she made a call was very helpful to me. Sometimes it happens that I call this name, but Siri hears otherwise and calls the wrong person. So, the confirmation she made helped me to cancel the call in time if she happened to call a wrong person. Please reconsider returning that feature on which Siri announces the contact’s name before dialling.

Sometimes certain settings on iPhone are local and don’t transfer over, this could be one of them. But you can simply turn it back on in Go to Settings > Siri > Announce Calls, then choose Always.

Problem solved when I changed the Siri language from English (UK) to English (Australia or New Zeland or Singapure). Go figure...
