If an Apple Watch is purchased in Canada, can AppleCare+ then be purchased in the USA

If an Apple Watch is purchased in Canada and given as a gift to somebody in the USA who then activates it in the USA, is it best for the AppleCare+ to be purchased in the USA *after* activation (within 30 days) rather than bundled with the original purchase in Canada?

I read that the warranty terms and ability to service the device may be limited in the USA if AppleCare+ was purchased from a different country due to the legal terms of the warranty being different.

It doesn’t matter which way you purchase AppleCare+, because in reality service will not be guaranteed outside of the purchase region. You are right in that Apple can and will limit service to the purchase region of the product, so if repairs are ever needed on the Apple Watch, you may have to return to Canada for that. The short answer is you shouldn’t have purchased a Watch that someone else in a different region would plan to use. Apart from warranty there are also feature differences and possible compatibility issues.
