I can connect from a MacBook Pro to an iMac via Connect to Server, but not the other way.
MacBook Pro = 15.5 (24F74)
iMac = 12.7.6
Error message from iMac
MacBook Pro has File Sharing, including SMB File sharing turned on along with Bluetooth sharing.
But when I use Connect to Server and instead of inputing the smb address, I'm able to connect when selecting Browse.
What am I missing?

NB> this range of addresses is all used for 'strictly local ' IP addresses, so you are not revealing private information. Almost everyone has devices in the 192.168.xxx.yyy range, and there is no conflict and they are not directly reachable over the Internet.

Went to Network / TCP/IP and used the number there and it worked!

Most networks are set up for DHCP. That means when your Mac connects, the Router MAY issue the 'next available' local IP address. Because that address will always be is in the same range as your Router, it should work fine, and you don't have collisions and you don't have to fuss with it. It just works..
If you have a device that you INSIST be at the same IP address every time you need to access it, you can instead use a Manual IP address. The disadvantage is that this can become tedious to manage by hand as more devices are aded to your network.
Also, if you use the Browse screen and supply the password in the Browse screen, it can RE-connect automatically (to the same device-name, but not necessarily to the same IP address).
