All sound coming out of the Mac is pitched down

Every so often maybe every other day, my Mac plays all sounds pitched way down, from YouTube from any source. The sound is like playing an extreme slow motion. I assume this is because I have a focusrite interface attached to my computer wondering if anyone has any solution to this inconvenient problem. I have to sorry reboot an app to fix it other times I have to reboot the computer.
