Spotify not closing when I close my MacBook Air

Anyone getting this problem when you close your Mac, the shut down is interrupted by Spotify because it refuses to close? I don’t know this is a virus but this is a recent development for me and no matter what I do. I can’t manually close it or force quit it. It just refuses to shut down. And if by some weird miracle that it does shut down my laptop won’t let me access the top bar menu so I can shut down my laptop. What is going on?
