How do I fix Mail freezing after iOS 18.5 update on iPhone 13 Pro Max?

I’m having the same issues since the update as well and I have a iPhone 13 Pro. The Mail app freezes. I shut it down by flicking it up and reopen it and I get a white screen. I’ve had to shut down my phone and turn it back on multiple times a day and it’s getting very annoying.

Please, Apple, I hope you have a fix or an update for this issue.

Same exact issue here. It started this morning for me. I have an iPhone 14 Pro and the only way to resolve this issue is to reboot the phone, but that only temporarily resolves it. It’s happened at least 3 times today.

I really don't want to delete and re-install the mail app because I have six email accounts and I don't want to go through the hassle of setting up all the accounts again and enduring the many many password glitches.

Same issue with me started happening today , it works fine for little time when i restart the phone but doesn’t make sense every time need to check my mail need to restart the phone!! I have iphone 13 pro max

iphone 13 Pro. Exactly the same thing. VPN was off and I turned it on and tried again. Worked until I left Mail then froze again when I went back to it. Toggling VPN made no difference since. Sort it out Apple!

Apple, it is long overdo that you refocus on top quality software issues vs new technology. If what you put out with updated OS systems must work correctly and when an issue to brought to your attention, FIX IT. It has been days now and we are all sick and tired of being in meetings and having to restart out iPhones, etc., because you aren't doing anything except sitting back. GET TO WORK!

UPDATE: My phone seems to have gone back to normal operation since yesterday morning, when I rebooted. Either Apple identified and repaired the problem or the phone just sort of corrected itself. Either way, I've had no issues with my Mail app for more than 24 hours now.

My solution has worked for me. Others have suggested different fixes, which is puzzling, although the users say their steps have resolved the issue fort them.

Possibly they are different issues - in any event my iPhone and Mail are fine.

If the OP could let us know if their Mail is ok or not it would be useful but I have no further step(s) to offer, other than to suggest a trip to an Apple Store as their best next option.

The situation has evolved and gotten worse. Yesterday afternoon, I am using Apple Car play and all of a sudden my entire Car Play freezes too, identical to mail. No GPS, Couldn't listen to a text.

Apple, it is long overdo that you wake up and pay attention. I have had Mac's for years, an Apple e2; I am so ready to ditch the Apple Ecosystem. Apple is no longer the elite they portray themselves to be. Especially since Tim took over.

Actually, the quality of Apple has continued to degrade since Tim took over. He is more interested in $$ and products vs quality and ensuring software works properly and addressing issues. Tim needs to stop putting his head in the sand and start leading.

I’m having this same issue with my 13 Pro Max. At times the screen goes completely white and I need to shutdown my phone to get it working again. Other times, while looking at emails, the screen freezes and I can’t select anything, so I swipe up to close the app and need to shutdown my phone to get the app working again. Sometimes when I select the app, it doesn’t show any emails, only shows the number of “Flagged” I have, and unable to select anything on the screen.

Still happening this morning on Saturday June 7, 2025. Super frustrating

I suspect that perhaps Apple pushed out a fix. I tried all of the options for the last couple days, (including the hard reboot, did that the first day), and nothing worked. For no apparent reason, I haven't had any problems so far today.

I saw the issue on three different types of iPhone devices. I reset my network settings on all 3 devices 2 days ago and so far have no longer seen issues with Mail App freezing.

Settings->General->Transfer or Reset iPhone->Reset->Reset Network Settings

Suggestions to restart iPhone or hard reset iPhone would temporarily work but eventually the Mail app would freeze again.

So I would first try resetting your network settings. You will have to re-enter your Wifi credentials.

Why is the post immediately below the OP’s question highly ranked? It has no answer in it. It’s just another report of the same issue.

And why, after I and others offered working solutions, (Mail is fine here) have contributors in this thread not reported back on testing the remedies?

What is the point of giving a working solution if all the subsequent replies are from users who obviously haven’t read any of the posts?

A quick heads up: I had this issue. I found a fix. I posted it.

Quite what the point of this ‘community’ is if members don’t actual be a part of it but just keep on repeating the same stuff with no participation, (ie: read and test answers) I fail to see.

My Mail app is now running as it should - if yours isn’t tough luck.

Make another thread about it.

I have the same issue, so I started chatting with support to report the bug, and they told me to fill out a form! So, what does tech support do? When I worked in support, when there was a bug that could not be resolved, it was escalated to the project managers who worked with the engineers to investigate and address. I never told the customer, "Oh, now you have to fill out another form to report your bug" - WHAT????

I use my phone for work emails and volunteer work, and I can no longer use it.

Apple - there is a bug - fix it!
