Why can't I choose stabilization method before analyzing and applying effect in video editing?

If I know I want smooth cam then why can't I select that first before analyzing and applying the effect? Instead, 99% of the time it analyzes the footage and automatically selects inertia cam, which doesn't work for fisheye footage I'm editing, and then I have to select smooth cam which then takes even more time to analyze the footage a second time. It would save so much time if we could just select the stabilization method we already know we want to use before analyzing and applying the effect.
