iOS 18.5 Mail app stuck on loading screen when forwarding or replying to emails with images in Microsoft 365 accounts

In the past three days, I put my phone on the charger overnight and I can hear the notification sounds coming from the phone for the Mail app and when I wake up in the morning, I take it off the charger and see the Lock Screen notifications for all the Mail messages. I open the Mail app to read the messages and when I open the Mail app, it is completely empty, blank, for every folder, except at the bottom, it tells me how many unread messages there are. So luckily, a hard restart of the phone fixes this problem. I close all open apps before I go to bed and put on the charger. Using 18.5. Submitted a bug report feedback to Apple Feedback regarding this glitch.

Why should I have to restart my phone every single morning just to read my email? Apple, do better. It seems like EVERY update comes with more problems than solutions.

i have yahoo mail (accessed via phone Mail settings not App) & it too is freezing. Plus when I open box sometimes the page is blank, all mail is missing. I can stop it by turning the phone on & off but within a few sessions of checking Mail it does it again. Only started after 18.5 update.

Getting something very similar myself but with a few differences. Apple Mail will open and display the inbox. Sometimes some emails are missing (it shows a blank entry where an email should be). Additionally tapping an email does nothing, in fact the whole mail app becomes unresponsive. Going back to the Home Screen then Closing the app doesn’t fix it either, so the only way round it is to reboot the phone after which mail seems to be alright for a little while.

Similar Problem here since a few days. I have an IMAP and an Exchange Account.

After opening the Mail App the App freezes after the First Input, eg opening a folder.

Both Accounts work nicely with any other Client.

Since 18.5 (iPhone 14Pro), when I launch the Mail app, it just sits there with a white screen. Locking up my phone from any other input. Notifications continue to appear along the top, but nothing else until the Mail app crashes and disappears. I try to relaunch the Mail app, same behavior. Eventually, after some resters, I can get into the Mail app but it is molasses slow until I just give up.

What is happening on my iPad mini after updating to OS 18.5, is that I have flagged email in my inbox. As I read thru each 1, I unflag it unless it needs further attention. Then I delete the unflagged items or move them to a different folder. But now: often the folder where I want to put the message is grayed out-so I have to send each to the trash & then from there I can put it in the desired folder. Also several items I have unflagged & moved now return to my inbox again (often marked as flagged again)! The last update was bad enough when the added an extra step just to move a piece of mail. Very annoying!😡

I'm getting the same thing too - iPhone 14 Pro/iOS18.5 - and only following the update to iOS18.5, so this can't be a coincidence.

Do Apple actually look at the community pages for common issues, then proactively try to resolve them? Asking as a first-time poster...

This just started happening to my wife and I at the same time. I’ve upgraded the 18.5 a week or so ago. I have iPhone 13 Pro. My wife just has the iPhone 13. I’m wondering if this is a server issue with Apple. Strange how it’s starting to happen to everybody around the same time.

Similar problem - Mail app locks up when trying to view emails in inbox. Inbox emails are not displayed. The 1st time it happened I thought I had accidently deleted all of my inbox emails. Sometimes I can close/open app to get it working again, other times it requires a reboot.

As with many folks who have already reported, Apple Mail app is mostly not working... glitchy, blank screen, and it crashes, etc. If I have to reboot the phone all the time to make the app work, that's a no-go for me. iOS 18.5 is what my phone is running.

Apple, please fix the Mail app.

Having to Reset Network Settings deletes all wifi configurations, etc. That is Not a fix, it just creates more issues.

ever since Apple Intelligence was introduced Push notifications were delayed and it led to a Slow OS.

They need to fix the Software asap

Same issue - for the past 2-3 days! Very frustrating! Showing an email from yesterday at the top of the screen - when I know lots more emails have come in - some I have read when I actually managed to get into them, but mostly seeing white screen, or older messages and completely unresponsive!

Ok. Judging by the comments here I’m not the only one. App freezes when I open it. If I force quit the app and reopen most of the time it’ll be blank or still frozen. Oddly, this is only happening on my iPhone not my iPad Pro nor my iPad Mini.

Strange thing is, this bug only seems to happen after 19:00 CET. Mail app starts and sometimes shows a hint of the last email. Most of the times it just shows a blank screen and closes by itself. Even without a reboot I know this won’t be the case tomorrow morning.
