iOS 18.5 Mail app stuck on loading screen when forwarding or replying to emails with images in Microsoft 365 accounts

Also had this issue but after a hard reset has worked fine since.

tap the volume up button then down button then press and hold the side (lock) button until it shows the apple logo. Don’t let go until you say the logo no matter what comes up!

As a workaround solution, I’ve found the following works to quickly reply or forward emails when mail gets “stuck”:

when viewing the original email that you want to reply or forward, Select All of the text in the email body. Then when you reply or forward, the email will be instantly created and you can type right away.

Hi guys, I contacted my local Apple Support and they provided a workaround that fixed this issue on my iPhone:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings

This morning I deleted the Mail app. 18.5 completely broke this app to the extent that it has been rendered useless, at least for me. I installed the Gmail app and it works flawlessly. What a relief.

Noticing the same thing on my wife's 14 with 18.5 and her email as well as at least one individual at work running an iphone 11. Mail app is a complete white screen and force quitting or restarting the phone sometimes fixes it.

I don’t know if its a fix but i made the mail app require faceid and it started working for me

Resetting the network settings fixed this issue on my iPhone Xr. 😃

Same here on an old iPhone XR with #IMAP email configuration. Reconfiguring the email account does not solve the issue. Email on my MacBook is running fine, so it must be an #iOS 18.5 issue.

Apple iCloud mail is running fine btw.

This is highly annoying! Something that worked for me today was to use the outlook app. Then when I deleted that email with images that was locking up the app, and went back to the Mail app, everything started working. Not ideal but I’m curious what happens if I delete from there laptop.

No, Apple does not come here for information. This is strictly user to user. If you wish to have Apple be aware you are experiencing an issue, you need to either contact Apple Support, or use the Feedback link, Product Feedback - Apple Apple needs to be made aware before they can work on something.

Also with imap accounts. Tried removing and setting the accounts again... nothing. Two different accounts from different providers. Two different iPhones... same problem

Change Apples new iCloud account from Push to Get and it all works. The error is in their iCloud account upgrades

Slight work around....I deleted and re-installed the app 5 times. On the 5th time it started to work a little better. When I first wake it up I had to swipe past it 3 times and then it started working normally. However it doesn't work with Exchange. I now have to use Outlook for my work email.

In addition to the blank, stuck Mail screen, and the unsuccessful reset network settings having any positive results, I now get zero notifications (Lock Screen, sounds, badges) for the Mail app. I have downloaded the Gmail mail app and put it right below the Mail app on my Home Screen and for notifications I am only using badges and I have kept my Mail app as my default email app. The only way to get messages from Mail is to manually open the Mail app and then it loads the messages. I don’t know how to get the Mail app to work. It’s gone from bad to worse.
