How can I stop my HomePod from auto-playing?

Hi,

A few days ago, my HomePod started to play music on its own when I was out of my home.

So I went to pause the music and the touch screen wasn’t working… I plugged it off and then I restored it.

The touch screen wasn’t working again when I touched the centre of the screen, but it started working when I touched the corner of it. I said, “ok i don’t care a lot about touching, so I was okay with it.”

The problem started again yesterday with the music that was playing on its own and at night WHEN I WAS SLEEPING!

I thought I was in a Paranormal Activity movie…

How can I solve the problem? I saw on Reddit some users that had the same problem, so I’m not the only one… and of course, my Apple Care+ expired last month.

sounds like a periodic defect with the touch screen providing fake touch positives, if that is the case the following could happen

  1. it would continue to self activate every now and then
  2. it could get worse with the decline of the electronic component making it stop working or providing fake positives all the time
  3. a bit more unlikely it could sort itself out.
