What causes ShiftCam ProGrip to disconnect from iPhone 16?

iPhone 16 ProMax. The grip goes dormant after a couple of minutes even as my phone is still on and the connection between both is lost. Then you have to “forget” the device in Bluetooth and reconnect. Then it disconnects promptly again. Start over. The grip also overheats the phone.

I approached ShiftCam and they have no solution: “At the moment, our team is actively coordinating with Apple regarding the Bluetooth connectivity problem you’ve described. (…)We’re currently awaiting further guidance on the permanent solution or replacement options we can offer for affected users.”

Apple no longer sells the grip on their website. This issue has been outstanding for months now and they are still “coordinating” with Apple to fix it? Seems like I’m being made a fool of and actually nothing is happening. Anyone has had this issue? What sort of answer from ShiftCam or Apple did you get? How long would it normally take to fix an issue like that?

I unsurprisingly have this issue too. The problem is, I’ve tried a couple of other grips and for a few reasons this one seems to be the best out of a bad bunch. As I want mine for capturing landscapes I will keep it, as of course the landscapes isn’t moving but if I wanted it for action shots or quick moving objects I wouldn’t want to risk not having a Bluetooth connection when I really needed it.

it is annoying because we’re not talking just a few pounds for the grip.

Unfortunately, it's up to ShiftCam to fix this issue. If they can. It's possible that they can't or, for some reason, won't. But no one here could tell you which. I suggest that you keep contacting them while you look for other options from other vendors.
