Heat is normal. It’s a byproduct of batteries discharging and active use of CPU’s and GPU’s. Accessing large amounts of data also cause memory and storage modules to produce heat. iPhones lack active cooling like fans and dissipate heat through the metal frame and glass panels.

iPhones do contain safety monitoring of the heat and will discontinue charging if internal temperatures become too hot. Once internal temperatures drop, normal use of the iPhone may resume.

Make sure all your apps are updated to their latest versions. If you notice a particular app causing increased heat, discontinue use and report the incident to the app’s support team. They may recommend deleting the app and downloading a new copy.
