How do I transfer mp3s with album covers to iPhone using Apple Music and Apple Devices apps?

Updated my iphone to latest version and installed the two new apps required to move mp3s to iphone(apple music pc app, and Apple Devices). When dragging songs to apple music app the songs have the cover album, artist and genre, but when syncing to iPhone the cover is blank. The only thing it shows is the song title, artist, and album name. It still plays the song, but now I've lost all of the cover/album art. I hate the look of the music note on every song as the cover. Now when going to the songs album the song name is in red. The song still plays on the iphone and on the pc it shows all the covers and meta data, but on iphone there is no cover.

Here is what I have tried so far.

- I've tried dragging music that has the album cover, artist and other info already on it from prior sync with iTunes. It will show in the apple music pc app that it has the covers and everything, but when syncing to iphone it is blank.

- I've tried redownloading the song without any prior info on it then add it to apple music pc app and edit the properties to what I want with the correct covers and info.

Nothing works and I've been at it for about an hour do any of you know what I'm doing wrong. I tried to go back to iTunes pc app and now my phone won't be recognized by it and is only recognized by the Apple devices app.

• I have also tried using Mp3Tag that was suggested on reddit to clean up the meta data and then re add everything. This also didn't work.

I swapped to these two new apps (apple music pc app, and Apple Devices) and it wiped all my music besides what I bought on iTunes and now I m having the problem above. Itunes worked before they updated it. Why do they have to keep breaking and changing that was working?
