CarPlay is not working after iOS 18.4.1 update

CARPLAY STOPPED WORKING AFTER THIS UPDATE. PLEASE FIX!! No longer works on 2021 CHEVY BLAZER! I tried forgetting phone and now it can’t even find phone, even after multiple phone and car restarts. PLEASE FIX ASAP

OK, saying apparently this update was supposed to fix that issue. The only work around I have found for me is forgetting the device resetting my phone, making sure that my car is up-to-date, turning off my car, letting it sit for a while, then finally coming back after about 30 minutes, turning my car on connecting to Apple CarPlay via USB and enabling Wireless if available and that should as it did with me allow you to get Apple CarPlay back.

Me Too! I use a 14plus and have a 2019 Renault Kadjar. Have spent approx 4 hours on the phone to customer support (5 different people) and tried all manner of things, one being "forget this vehicle" on the car play app. now it won't even see my car! so no chance of it working. I really don't know what to do next - continue with customer support I guess. This is obviously not an isolated problem, come on Apple sort it out.

I finally got it working. Completed the following steps:

While phone is not in car, removed the car setup from the phone in the following places. Suggest you do this a far distance from the car.

remove car from the following on the phone.

1. WiFI
2. Bluetooth
3. Car play.

Finally, hard reset of the phone.

While the phone is not in the car, removed phone from car in the appleCarPlay

Hard reset of the computer in the car. Shut off car and waited 5 minutes.

Took phone to car, started setup process again from the car (Skoda). This time on the phone I got "please allow the car to access contacts, ...etc" answered yes.

This worked.

key is to do this while the devices can't communicate and continue to reconnect via Bluethooth, wifi or applecarplay.

Same problem for me too:

Iphone XMax with IOS 18.4.1 just updated, Apple CarPlay (which worked perfectly with my Toyota Highlander 2020 with Toyota touch MM19) stopped working after the OS update with frequent disconnects.

It only works when I turn on the car with the USB cable connected, but if I accidentally unplug and reconnect it, it can no longer find the phone. I've tried resetting and reconnecting to the car, but to no avail: the only way to get it to recognise the phone is to turn the car off and on again with the USB cable connected. Absurd and frustrating!

It worked perfectly before I updated to IOS18.4.1.

I’m having an issue with removing apps from CarPlay. Even though I remove the apps in the CarPlay settings and they disappear from the CarPlay home screen, they still automatically open in CarPlay when I launch them on my iPhone. It seems like the system completely ignores the fact that the apps were removed from the CarPlay interface.

Has anyone experienced this and found a solution?

The solution to that is don't launch them on your phone when the phone is connected to CarPlay... CarPlay is just an interface to the phone. Removing an app from the CarPlay screen does not 'remove the app'. it just makes it inaccessible from that interface.

Why are you messing with your phone when it's connected to CarPlay anyway? That defeats the entire purpose of CarPlay.

I’ve been using CarPlay this way for many years — I often run one navigation app on the CarPlay screen and another one on the iPhone screen at the same time. So simply “not launching the app while connected” is not a solution for me.

After updating to iOS 18.4.1, CarPlay has stopped working properly. Previously, it connected smoothly to my iPhone 16 Pro Max via Bluetooth pairing. However, since the update, CarPlay now connects through a local Wi-Fi network, which disables my mobile data connection. As a result, apps like Waze stop working while driving.

I’ve tried deleting the device from my car and forgetting it on my iPhone, then reconnecting, but that didn’t help. Restarting the iPhone also didn’t resolve the issue

Mine stop working today. I did this update because the description said it would fix the CarPlay problem. The irony is that it continues with the problem. 😩

I tried with iPhone 15 and 15 plus.

I may have found the solution (at least it worked for me):

1) Disable the CarPlay device on your iPhone

2) Restart your iPhone just in case.

3) Start the car: it doesn't matter if the device connects with the car automatically via Bluetooth

4) Important: connect the iPhone using an original Apple cable (with a non-original cable, pairing and charging will not work).

3) IPhone with CarPlay is found automatically.

Everything seems to work fine now. The problem is the non-original cable and must be paired with the Iphone and reconnected again.

System IOS 18.4.1

This is the same issue I’ve been having. Everything goes offline. Have you been able to find a solution? I’ve been using usb connection as a backup, but would love to go back to it just connecting when I get in the car.

Same for me, updated to latest version and CarPlay will now not connect. Bluetooth works fine, it's just CarPlay has an issue. Reset car, no change, tried an old phone with earlier version , all fine.

That has never been supported.

Are you using wired or wireless CarPlay? What year Tucson?
