How can I disable Siri's AI features on iPhone running iOS 18.3.2?

Last evening while driving with my phone connected with Apple CarPlay, my daughter sent a text to me via Messages. I clicked to have Siri read the text to me and this was her response: "[name] sent a photo of a person lying on a bed with a black and white dog."

There was no text with the photo. Just the photo but Siri accurately described the photo to me. This is beyond creepy and a true intrusion into my privacy.

How can I disable AI on my iPhone? It is currently running iOS 18.3.2.

Thank you.

As far as having Siri read or tell you about a message in CarPlay it's all OR nothing. If you don't want Siri to read or in the case you referred to, describe a photo, you will have to turn off this feature, by going into the Settings app on your iPhone > Notifications > Messages > Show in CarPlay and turn off the switch.

Siri will no longer read your text messages to you, nor describe a photo. You cannot get so granular as to stop Siri from describing a photo, but still read your messages to you.

Do you have the iPhone 14 your original post indicates? If so, you don't have Apple Intelligence at all. Therefore, it can neither be turned on or off.

What specific features are you trying to disable? We may be able to tell you what they are actually called and if they can be turned off.

As others have pointed out if you are using an iPhone 14 like your profile suggests it does not support Apple Intelligence. Only iPhone 15 Pro and later support Apple Intelligence. So what model/year iPhone are you actually using?

How is this an intrusion of your privacy? Your daughter sent you a picture, you asked Siri about the picture sent to your phone with your account logged in.
If there were others in the car you didn't want to know about it, then why did you have Siri read it?

You make a really point there. The Author admits asking Siri to read the message, so it's really not an intrusion into their privacy when Siri did exactly as was asked.

That means either your iPhone does not support Apple Intelligence or it is not supported in your region. Whatever option is it though means that Apple Intelligence is not installed on your iPhone.
