After completing the update and restarting, it is forcing me to reset a password and not taking my password. When I go into recovery mode, then terminal, then run resetpassword I have correctly used my previous password and upon attempting to reset there says it "cannot connect to authorization server", even though wifi appears to be working correctly. Is there a recourse to fix this?

The Terminal command is performed Locally as in, On the Computer
It has nothing to do with an Active and Functional Internet Connection
Intel Computer
Shutdown the computer
Restart computer and immediately hold the two keyboard combo Command r
Top Tool Bar >> Utilities >> Terminal
Type resetpassword as one word and no spaces
Press Return key
Follow the prompts and remember the New Password
