Apple Numbers, CURRENCYH (EUR USD) conversion problem

Historically I convert EUR amounts to USD in Apple Numbers files. And the conversions were always correct, i.e. no weekend dates etc - with USD values above EUR values due to conversion rates. Suddenly in all my files and for all dates it is the reverse, i.e. USD Values below EUR values which simply cannot be. I have not touched the formulas and its partly in files which are pulled out from time machine. In fact it looks like I briefly see the old values and suddenly they change to the new value. I assume there might be a bug in Apple Numbers Version 14.4 which was launched early April 2025??? Anyone who experiences the same problem and probably even knows how to address it?

I am assuming it is the data coming from Yahoo! Finance. I hope they or Apple will soon correct the data for this API. It is correct on the Yahoo! Finance website but apparently CURRENCYH pulls data from somewhere else. The stock functions have a similar problem from time to time, though usually it is "data not available". That's actually a better result than incorrect numbers.

It does seem like CURRENCYH() is broken, but I can't quite see how - it's not as simple as always returning USD, for example.

I created a quick table of dates, CURRENCYH("USD","EUR") and CURRENCYH("EUR","USD") and got the following:

So it's not like it's always returning, say, USD, because the numbers are close, but not the same, differing by somewhere between 0.00¢ and 0.03¢

Granted, currency conversion is not something I do regularly, so I don't know what previous versions would return, but I would expect one to be the inverse of the other.

Feedback - Numbers - Apple would be the next port of call.

Wrote to Feedback/Numbers/Apple twice, still the problem persists. How long do they need to address an essential flaw in their software? I cannot put my bookkeeping on hold, guess I will need to move back to using Excel for Mac.

It's hard to say. Feedback is monitored but there is no way of knowing how long it will take to resolve a particular problem. Suggest. you give feedback again. The may be a flaw not in the software itself but in the data feed from the provider.

If you want to keep your work in Numbers remember that as a temporary workaround it is not hard to get historical data elsewhere (say Google Sheets, using a GOOGLEFINANCE formula) and copy-paste into a Numbers table.
