iCloud for PC starting maximised rather than minimised to tray

When loading Windows 11 after a shutdown iCloud for PC starts maximised and needs to be minimised every time. It never used to do this.

iCloud version: 15.3.146

Windows version: 10.0.26100

There is no option in the iCloud app to start minimised.

I stopped the iCloud config window opening on start up

(Windows11) by going to

msconfig / Startup / Open Task Manager

and disabling iCloud (leaving iCloud Drive and iCloud Photos enabled, as I use those!)

On restart I still had the iCloud icon in the system tray,

but the iCloud config window no longer opened on screen.
