time on 2020 macbook air loses time

My 2020 macbook air loses time at random times and I have to restart computer. It is on automatic settings so I am not sure if it has to do with battery or something else. It is a refurbished mac that I bought from a private computer store.

What do you mean by "loses time"? Is the clock resetting? Or is the battery draining? Or is is something else?

Troubleshooting Mac Battery Drain:

Mac Intermittently Resetting Time:

Try these four command lines in Terminal. You’ll need to enter the administrator after using each in. To open Terminal, go to: Applications > Utilities


sudo rm /etc/ntp.conf

sudo rm /var/db/timed/com.apple.timed.plist

sudo sntp -sS time.apple.com
