MacBook Air time keeps changing automatically

So I have a brand new MacBook Air M2 for a few months now. Today it was the first day I forgot to charge it and the battery drained completely. After plugging it in and powering it on I noticed time had reset to September 6th and it was 3 hours ahead of my time.

Settings in the date and time field were all correct yet it wouldn't update from the apple servers. I couldn't even search google for a solution because every search would return the message "Connection could not be established due to wrong clock settings etc."

I managed to manually get the correct time by using the command " sudo sntp -sS time.apple.com" and it worked. Problem is new correct time won't stick and as soon as I disconnect from my wifi or restart the MacBook it resets. I really don't know what to do. Any suggestions ?

I found this on reddit and worked for me

In Terminal use the following commands, time should be set to automatic in settings beforehand:

sudo rm /etc/ntp.conf

sudo rm /var/db/timed/com.apple.timed.plist

sudo sntp -sS time.apple.com
