Home Pod Mini stuck in "Configuring"

I saw many posts with great suggestions. Here's what I did to fix the issue.

  • Connected Home Pod Mini to my Mac, went to finder to find the device, performed restore which also updates the iOS to the latest version.
  • Logged into my iCloud from my iPhone and removed the Home Pod Mini device
  • Opened Home app on my iPhone and deleted Home Pod Mini from "Home". I then created a new home, let the Home Pod Mini boot up and performed add device, and then added the device to the newly created home.
  • Reboot the Home Pod Mini (disconnect the USB C cable and reconnect) and then give it a minute or two and then "configuring" is gone and now shows correct "not playing".
