Double click side button only switches iPhone 13 off

I dont understand how this is still an issue, I've trawled threads from up to 4 years ago about it. When I double tap the side button of my new iPhone 13 it just goes to sleep. Yes, The card is legit and loaded, Yes I have data and reception, YEs Ive enabled double-click to open Apple Pay (and disabled and reenabled several times with reboots), Yes Ive reset the phone (vol+- and hold down side button) Yes, I double click the button as fast as is physically possible and tried changing the double/triple click speed in settings. Nothing changes. The first click sends it straight to slumber-land. Is there a setting no-one has mentioned in any threads on here (or maybe Ive missed it?) Looking forward to hearing how to fix it.

Ok, My son fixed it for me, turns out the card Ive loaded still needs to be verified by the bank, so my bad. I actually added it using the banking app and assumed it all got done then, last time I added the card I just took a photo of it and it loaded everything automatically, I thought it was incredibly seamless. Thanks for the assists. Hopefully this answers someone else's issue.

Also, go to: Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut. Now, select two of the shortcuts, so there’s a blue check mark next to them. Now see if triple clicking the side button works, to bring up a little Shortcut menu. Once the menu is up, press “cancel.”

Yes sir, def less than a second. I even switched the double click timing to the two optional slower settings and same thing - phone switches off on the first click. I have used the double click feature before too - when I had a previous card linked on my XS so am not unfamiliar with it.

I didnt see the first reply on my question earlier. But Ive now enabled "triple click" with two options and I can triple click the side button to bring up a menu, so that works but now if I just double click nothing happens (not even sleep mode)
