Apple watch ECG Does not Work

When running the ECG app on my watch, touching the crown starts the countdown, but it keeps resetting to 30 seconds and never completes. I’ve tried resetting the watch, turning off AssistiveTouch, resetting my phone, and more—nothing worked. It worked fine a year ago, so something may have broken since. What should I do next?

I got it working by pressing and holding the crown slightly to one side. It seems there’s an issue with conductivity that was temporarily resolved this way.
