Why do I see a thumbs up emoji doing FaceTime with my gf only and with no one else?
Also, how do I turn it off? I’ve tried everything to no avail

Sounds like what you are seeing is the Reactions Emojis, and if you do not have it turned on, then your girlfriend does. You can view more information here about using it or turning it off. It sounds like your girlfriend has it turned on with her device.

When using Reactions the camera has detected you or your girlfriend giving the thumbs up and then you will see that emoji on the screen.
