Predatory scam app developer FABULOUS still operating in the Apple store.
many months ago i signed up for a 'free trial' for an app called Fabulous in the app store. The developer is also called Fabulous.
I cancelled the free trial but was charged over and over again for a subscription. I got my money back but the developer clearly uses the app store and accesses people's banking information to sneak charges in.
I was recently charged $41.99C for one of their other apps that i didn't even know existed -- I thought I was done with them ages ago.
But they fake-signed me up for it and charged me -- twice -- once three months ago that I didn't notice and then last week.
You can't ask for a refund back for an app you never downloaded or subscribed to so the AppStore will do nothing.
I had to delete my Apple Pay account in the Wallet App, and shut down my digital wallet at my bank as well as cancel the credit card it charged and get a new one.
A simple Google search and looking at the app's reviews will show that this has been going on for a long time. They rip people off constantly and the Apple Store does nothing about it.
I am seriously thinking of shutting down every Apple app I pay for including Apple TV/Music/News and a couple of other ones I use because I have no faith that this developer will not be able to simply tag along on the app store and claim I signed up for a subscription to one of their apps. They can just keep switching things around.
They respond to complaints with AI generated drivel both on the store reviews and on their website and in emails. It's clearly very sophisticated.
And Apple does nothing but facilitate their access to people's money so they can keep stealing from them.
And of course the nightmare is that there is nowhere to turn. Even my bank's credit card is a nightmare to try to get the charge reversed. I'm waiting right now. But in all I'm likely going to be the victim of this scam for over $100.
