New “untamperable” gift cards still tampered with. Apple refuses to refund me.

I have had a situation today with $400 worth of Apple gift cards from Woolworths. Bought them for the rewards points, but got home and found (“non-tamperable”) cards had last three digits scratched off. Woolworths said to call Apple. Apple refused to acknowledge the cards were tampered with and wouldn’t refund. Woolworths (instore) said they couldn’t refund (due to computer system limitations). Have raised issue with Woolworths gift cards team, via phone, and still waiting on resolution.
