Why did my Apple Pay suddenly stop working with a valid payment method?

I received a message on my phone today in settings that my Apple Pay stopped working and I needed to add an acceptable new payment method. There is nothing wrong with the one I’ve been using for years and its info is correct in Apple Wallet so what goes with this?

Same... and it’s the Apple Card..🧐Can’t find a way to report this as a bug to Apple. So, incase anyone’s monitoring these forums…

One of the apps I’m having trouble with didn’t care that I was unable to even login to their app for 2+ weeks, let alone that I couldn’t get Apple Pay to work, after I finally got a functioning code (12+ hours after trying to sign in) for their absurd 2fa.

ANYWAYS…

  • AT&T: Apple Pay won’t work on app but works on safari. Been like this for 2-3 months.

***EDIT:

AT&T app was logging in automatically even though the password changed. Apple Pay worked on the app this time once I signed out AND deleted the account login info and then logged into. Similar steps for the other apps I listed did not resolve their issues.

  • Wendy's: Apple Pay hasn’t worked but I got it to once this week. Been about a month since first time I noticed this.

  • Taco Bell: Apple Pay doesn’t work. Yesterday was the first time I had an issue with it, had to use card number (and lose the extra 1% cash back 😒).

  • Gas stations: Functions, inside and out.

  • A local pizza shop: Functioned.

…Seem to have no issue with in person transactions.

  • Sheetz, DQ, & McDonald’s apps: Functioning. (Subway, at least once, too.)

Anyone find any resolution? Or a reasonable explanation?
