Itunes syncing wants to remove my apps?

Here’s the issue:

When I try to sync music to my iPhone (specifically, when I check the "Sync Music" box in iTunes), the Apps section disappears from the capacity bar at the bottom. Does this mean iTunes will actually remove my apps once I press Sync?

I haven’t synced with iTunes in years, so I’m not sure if this is just a visual glitch and my apps will stay intact, or if they’ll really be deleted.

All I want to do is sync music without losing any apps. Any ideas?

I suspect it is a glitch. That said, backup your device to iCloud, and then backup the device to your computer. Take two separate backups so that should you need to restore, and one of the backups doesn't work, you can use the other one.

Syncing music will replace any existing media content on the device with content from your library. If there are things on the device that aren't in your library, and that you want to keep, see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - Apple Community.
