I recorded an interview using 3 iPhones with Final Cut Camera app, the footage on the iPhone 16 pro max looks to be cropped in and thats not how it was recorded. We had multiple people looking at the shot while being recorded and it was wider, the way it came out its chopping off half of my guest head, on 2 different takes. Is there anyway to fix this? Or am royally 🤬

I had the same issue in working with a client. Though I've not found a way to fix it in the videos already recorded. I was able to source the problem for future recordings. The cropping happens when Stabilization is activated. To keep this from happening, go to settings and de-select stabilization.

Yes i have taken to footage onto my computer it looks the same, put it final cut pro and its the same thing. I should mention that I am professional and have 2 decades of experience. Never seen anything like this before, including on Final Cut Camera that I have been using for about 3 months now. Although one time we had the footage completely disappear or should I say never appear after hitting stop. I blamed it on the cam op, now im starting to think he was telling me the truth.
The problem I had was with the recording in the "Final Cut Camera" app. The screen shot seen here of the app was a wider shot while it was recording. Both the guest had way more head room, it had more room on all sides. To me it looks like it was center cropped by 20 or 30 percent when the app finalized the video.

Did you open one of these clips to view it on the iPhone, or send it to your Mac?
AFAICT, these square boxes are just thumbnails for the clips. I see those too on my iPhone, but when I open the clip it has the correct aspect ratio.
That is really strange.
Maybe someone who has experience with the Final Cut Camera app can shed some light on the subject.
I have only just downloaded the app when I saw your question, and AFAICT it does not even have a setting to record square or other nonstandard format video - only options I can see are 4K, 1080 and 720, so I can't see how it would produce the result you are getting. It sure does not seem normal.
Please show me a screenshot of the editing screen and explain in detail.
If you open the footage in Quicktime Player, and do a Get Info on it, what is the video frame size, codec, etc?
